Reading the journal
The included pages do not contain analytics, advertising trackers, account registration or social-media embeds. Images, scripts and styles are requested from the site's own origin. As with any website, delivering a page makes technical information such as your IP address, request time, requested URL and browser information available to hosting infrastructure. Hosting and security services may process that information to deliver and protect the site.

The local message tool
Text entered in the Contact page is processed within your browser by the included script. Preparing a draft does not transmit it to the journal. The script does not save your entries in cookies, localStorage or sessionStorage. Copying places the draft on your clipboard if your browser permits it; downloading creates a file on your device.
Your browser, operating system, clipboard history or backup tools may retain information under their own settings. Do not use the tool for sensitive or confidential material, particularly on a shared device.
If you email us
Sending an email provides the information you choose to include, your email address and associated message metadata to the recipient and the email services involved. Correspondence may be used to consider a suggestion, investigate a correction, respond to a question or maintain relevant editorial records. Do not send personal information about other people without an appropriate basis.
Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, responding to requested correspondence may rely on legitimate interests or steps taken at your request, depending on the circumstances.
