What cookies are

Cookies are small pieces of information a website can ask your browser to retain and return with later requests. They can support essential functions, remember preferences or enable measurement and advertising. Browser storage technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage work differently but can also retain information on a device.

The included journal code

The static pages and included script do not set cookies or use localStorage or sessionStorage. They do not include analytics or advertising code. Mobile navigation, scroll reveals and native expandable notes work without persistent storage.

This statement concerns the journal code described here. Hosting, security infrastructure or a separately supplied consent-management service may have additional behavior that must be documented by the site operator when deployed. A provider's essential technical processing should not be confused with an analytics feature in the journal itself.

Message drafts, clipboard and downloads

The Contact tool holds a prepared draft in the current page's memory. It does not deliberately save that draft for a later visit. Choosing Copy writes the draft to your clipboard if permission is available. Choosing Download creates a text file that remains under your control. These actions are not cookies.

Browsers may preserve form fields during navigation or restore a previous page. Clipboard histories, device backups and downloaded files can also outlast the page. Use your device's controls to remove those items, especially on shared equipment.

Browser cache and server requests

Your browser may cache images, stylesheets and other page files to improve loading. This ordinary cache is distinct from cookies and from a saved contact draft. A site request may also be recorded by hosting infrastructure; blocking cookies does not prevent the technical connection required to load a page.

Your controls

Most browsers let you inspect and clear site data through their privacy or site-settings menus. Available names and options vary by browser and device. Clearing site data may affect other functions supplied by hosting or consent services, if present. To remove a downloaded draft, delete the file through your device's file manager; clearing cookies does not delete downloads.

External reference sites have their own storage practices. Consult their notices when you visit them. For questions about this journal, email [email protected] or read the privacy notice.
